Monday, May 17, 2010
For Immediate Release
Kitchener Rivershark Twins edge Jarvis Travelers for top spot in pre-season poll May 17, 2010 - Kitchener Rivershark Twins, the two-time defending ISC World Champions, open 2010 as the #1 ranked team, but only by the finest of margins as the new-look Jarvis Travelers split the vote for top spot in the pre-season poll. Kitchener lost 2009 MVP Dean Holoein in the off-season, along with fellow Canadian national team members Steve Mullaley and Craig Crawford, but added Aussie standout Jeff Goolagong and welcomed back catcher Chris Shewfelt. Jarvis made the biggest gains over the winter with the last-minute additions of international stars Adam Folkard, Brad Rona, Nick Shailes and Fred Terkelson along with Canadian nationals Ian Fehrman and Jeff Ellsworth. Hard on the heels of the top two are the revamped New York Gremlins in at #3. The Gremlins added Paul Koert, Dale Levy and Rhys Casley to bolster their lineup. At #4 is an improved Chicago/NY Dominicana squad that will feature Jeremy Manley and Rob Schweyer in the circle along with top Americans Adam Lalonde and Todd Schultz. Rounding out the top five is the California Athletics team that added pitchers Sean Whitten and Travis Price as well as Derek Mayson, Darren Box and Bob Rostenhausler. The top 10 is as follows: 1. Kitchener, ON Rivershark Hallman Twins
2. Jarvis, ON Travellers
3. New York, NY Gremlins
4. Chicago/NY Dominicana
5. Salinas, CA Athletics
6. Midland, MI Explorers
7. Elkhart, IA Albaugh Inc.
8. Saskatoon, SK Diamondbacks
9. Decatur, IL Pride
10. Bakersfield, CA Silverhawks
