June 25, 2010
Midland, Michigan Boys Fastpitch Sofball Coaches, Friends, Parents, and Fans, Plans for the 2010 ISC Under-19 Championship (August 19th-21st in Midland, Michigan) are going strong. As mentioned earlier, this year's tournament set-up does not require teams to compete in a qualifier to be eligible. Instead, we have asked teams to submit 1-paragraph bios of their teams to the host committee along with a preliminary roster for consideration. Thus far, the following 9 teams have been granted and accepted berths for this year's tournament: KW Midget Twins (Waterloo, Ontario) Stratford Memorial Midgets (Stratford, Ontario) Straffordville Selects (Straffordville, Ontario) Scarborough Champion Indians (Scarborough, Ontario) Munger Bulldogs (Munger, Michigan) Richville (Richville, Michigan) Oshawa BB Midgets (Oshawa, Ontario) Langford Midget A (Langford, British Columbia) Sports Junction (Midland, Michigan) The 2010 ISC Under-19 Championship will be played in both Emerson Park and Red Coats Softball Complex (Midland, MI), co-sites of this year's ISC World Tournament. The ISC U-19 games will begin on Thursday night, Aug 19th. The ISC U-19 Championship game will be played in Emerson Park at 5 pm on Saturday, Aug 21st. The ISC World Tournament Men's Finals are scheduled for 7 pm the same day in Emerson Park's Currie Stadium. The tournament is a round-robin 4-game guarentee format. If their travel plans do not permit them to play on Thursday night, I have given teams the option of not starting until Friday morning. To be eligible for the 2010 ISC U-19 Championship, a player must not have been born prior to January 1st, 1991. In addition to the tournament news, I'd also like to announce plans for an Advanced Skills Boys Clinic from 3-5 pm on Thursday, Aug 19th. The clinic will be led by 6-time Team USA member Doug Gillis and will involve close interaction with some of the best men's players in the world. The clinic will include pitching, hitting, and fielding instruction. This will be a chance for young fastpitch boys/men to ask top players specific skill-related questions and receive tips on how to become an elite player. Further details about the Advanced Skills Boys Clinic will be announced in the coming weeks. Although the tournament is fast approaching, we still have a few U-19 berths available to offer teams. If your team has an interest in attending this year's ISC Under-19 Championship, please contact me by Saturday July 3rd for consideration. Additionally, a berth can also be earned through the ISC U-19 Developmental tournament in Frankenmuth, MI on July 10-11th (contact Tom Stasik, tomstasik@gmail.com, for more information on this tournament). Thank you for your interest and best of luck with your teams this season. David Lach 2010 Midland ISC World Tournament Host Committee lachdavid@gmail.com P.S.
