ISC Special Olympics Game

Thursday, August 2, 2012

It's with great pleasure that I announce the 2012 ISC Special Olympics game will be on Currie Stadium's main field 5pm on Wednesday August 15th.   We hope this event will be the biggest and best ever and are praying for good weather to keep the game on schedule!   Tournament Director Kyle Beane will have his hands full with many things in Midland so I'm going to be the point man for this great game.

To make this happen and ensure all the participants have the most memorable of experiences,  we are again asking for donations from all the teams, both monetarily and team 'stuff'.

The team items can be hats or t-shirts so that every Olympian can take home a souvenir.  Coaches, managers, sponsors,  PLEASE try to remember to bring something that you can donate to the S/O game.  It means the world to these people and their families.

Cash donations are going to be solicited too.  No donation is too small.  This money goes towards purchasing a group photo for every Olympian which they all cherish so much.    ISC Photographer Bruce Hackett will be on hand to capture the game and take the group picture.  Bruce also did an amazing job of finding a local place that will develop the group pictures at an amazing price.   The balance of the cash donations will go to the local are Special Olympics organization.

The ISC will be streaming the game FREE of charge for everyone.  We are very grateful for that.  And, as always, the ISC umpires donate their time to call the game.

Anyone coming to Erie this weekend that wants to make their donation can give it to Jamie or I.  We'll make sure it gets to Midland.

On a personal note, since I started working with Kyle Beane on this annual event it's become one of the highlights of the ISC for me.   Like a lot of people, I never game this game too much of a second thought until I played in my first game a couple of years ago.  Now I will NEVER miss the game.   I hope the ballplayers who read this will donate and dedicate 1 hour of their time to participate in this worthwhile cause.

Thanks everyone,  see you all soon.
