| SCHNEIDERS ISC WORLD FASTBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS KITCHENER-WATERLOO -- The host committee for world fastball championship announced, today, that Schneider Foods has been named title sponsor of the event. The Schneiders ISC World Fastball Championship will run from August 9 to 18, 2002 in the Peter Hallman Ballyard. "We are very excited to have such an outstanding local company on board as our title sponsor," says Tom Clancy, chair of the host committee. "Schneiders and the world fastball championships are a perfect fit." Scott Strickland, group marketing manager for Schneider Foods says, "For more than 111 years, Schneiders has had a rich history in the Waterloo Region as a strong community contributor. We are very pleased to be able to continue this tradition by helping bring this exciting event to the area." The championship will bring approximately 30,000 people to the area and inject an estimated $3 million in into the local economy. During the tournament, 40 teams from all over North America will play an eight division, five team round robin format. The host team is the KW Hallman Twins, the oldest major men's softball franchise in Canada. The Schneiders ISC World Fastball Championship is being organized by Waterloo Ontario Fastball Association (comprised of the Waterloo Chippers, Lakeshore Optimists, Minor Boys Softball and KW Hallman Twins) and Kitchener Fastball Promotions (comprised of the Kitchener Fastball League, KW Kinsmen, Country Hills Optimists, Kitchener Minor Boys and Kitchener Minor Girls Softball Organizations) and the cities of Kitchener and Waterloo. This is the first time the tournament is being held in Ontario.
