Ron Brinkman New ISC Umpire In Chief Designate

Ron Brinkman of Appleton, WI has been selected as the ISC's new Umpire In Chief replacing Bob Minshall, following the Kitchener-Waterloo tournament next August.  Between now and then, Brinkman's title will be Umpire In Chief Designate and he will be an ISC Commissioner At Large.  Bob Minshall announced his retirement as Umpire In Chief a few months ago.

Brinkman has a solid 20+ year umpiring career including 17 ISC World Tournaments.

The ISC Executive Director and the ISC Executive Committee jointly made the selection of Brinkman.

At the same time as Brinkman's elevation to UIC Designate, Les Novak, ISC Deputy UIC and Minnesota Area Commissioner, will become the chairman of the ISC's Umpire Committee and remain in the role as ISC Deputy Umpire In Chief.  It is felt with the combined expertise, knowledge and experience of these two fine gentlemen, the ISC Umpire Program will enter a new era of importance and progress.  There will likely be significant changes in the operation of the ISC umpire program over the next few years.

A new ISC umpire sponsorship agreement will be announced shortly.

Ron Brinkman is a 30+ year science teacher at a Middle School in Appleton.  He plans to retire from teaching following the 2002-03 school year and will be able to devote full-time to his Umpire In Chief responsibilities.  He has been married to Jean for over 30 years.  They have three grown children and one grandchild.  Jean has been a staunch supporter of both Ron's umpiring career and the ISC World Tournament.  She has attended all but one of Ron's 17 ISC tournaments.

Please join in welcoming Ron Brinkman to his new position.
