Judd Berthiaume, Pitching Clinic Administrator for the International Softball
Congress, has some potent suggestions for ANYONE who is interested in preserving and
promoting the sport of men’s fastball.
Let’s cut to the chase and listen carefully to Judd’s ideas. They make a whole lot
of sense, and there are a whole lot of persons who can carry them out.
- Please consider HOSTING A MALE PITCHERS’ CLINIC - -targeting all who may be interested in some instruction, possible associated with one of the larger tournaments in your area. For help on setting up a clinic or in finding an instructor near you, contact Judd Berthiaume at fastball@juddpatrick.com
- Consider adding a young pitcher to your roster for league games and tournament games to get them involved and excited about the game. Take a young pitcher along to a tournament to expose them to the competitiveness of the game.
- Utilize any veteran pitchers who may be available. Consider putting together a group of young players and pitching for them while teaching one or more of them how to pitch. This will allow them to be competitive while gradually giving the younger pitchers more innings and confidence as they improve. We need to consider the long-term health of the game. The best ways to work with young pitchers is on a continual basis - - as opposed to a one-time clinic!!
- Understand that INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEOS ARE AVAILABLE!!! But please inquire about
them only if you are planning on having a pitching clinic since supplies are limited.
