Ken Hackmeister, Executive Director of the International Softball Congress, is announcing the appointment of Dean Oscar of Reedsburg, Wis., to the position of Commissioner for the Wisconsin Area.
Dean Oscar is replacing Bob Tomlinson in that position.
Oscar has a rich background in the sport of fastball. He has played the game in the Madison area for 34 years, 30 of which have been as a player-manager. He has played in numerous ISC area tournaments. He has served as Tournament Director for local weekend tournaments for more than 15 years.
Hackmeister described the ISC’s new appointee as “knowledgeable and enthusiastic” adding that, “I have talked with him and reviewed with him an extensive array of both duties and expectations of the position. He showed his rich background through the many perceptive and intelligent questions which he asked.”
The ISC leader also pointed out in his announcement that Oscar is not affiliated with any ISC level team though he continues to serve as player/manager for his Masters team in ASA competition.
ISC Northern Vice President Dave LeBlanc added his endorsement to the appointment, saying, “I am pleased to welcome Dean to the ISC organization and I know that he will make many positive contributions to the game and to our Wisconsin area.”
Fastball is not Dean Oscar’s only sports interest and activity. He has officiated high school basketball and football for 32 years, including an even dozen state tournaments in basketball and one in football. He has also officiated NCAA Division III football for 10 years.
In “real life” Dean Oscar serves as Administrator of the Reedsburg Physicians Group, an independent medical practice with a staff of nearly 75 medical professionals.
Oscar is married (wife – Susan); father of three (Samantha – 20; Elliott – 19; and Elizabeth – 16).
