The International Softball Congress Board of Directors is in the process of discussions, via e-mail, of a plan presented by the organization’s Players Representatives Committee at the Board meetings in Eau Claire last month.
That plan is known as PRAWN. It is intended to limit the number of players who had attained ISC All-World Tournament status (during the most-recent five year period) that any team could have on their roster. It was tabled by the Board in August after lively discussion. The tabling of the proposed plan was designed to postpone until later in the summer/fall any decision on the plan.
Currently the motion from the Players Rep Committee has been removed from the table and is the topic of more lively discussion. Some variations of the original proposal have been presented and are under discussion.
Dick Mason, ISC President, is confident that the discussions will be over and a vote on the plan (including any changes which may come about through those discussions) will be taken by about September 15.
Any action taken by the Board of Directors on this plan would be in effect for the 2006 season.
Anyone who has questions about the PRAWN plan works, and/or what effect it would have on their team, should contact their Area of Travel League commissioner for an explanation.
