A vote of the Board of Directors of the International Softball Congress has approved a change in the format of the ISC World Tournament.
Beginning with the 2006 World Tournament in Kitchener, Ontario, this August, the round robin format will be replaced by a double elimination format. This new format will also include a bracket for teams which lose their first two games in the competition and will allow teams from that bracket to play their way back into the tournament with a chance to win.
The new format, called Every Game Counts (EGC) will feature 32 teams with 28 of these being guaranteed a minimum of four games.
Berth re-allocations for the 2006 World Tournament are currently underway and will be announced as soon as they become available. Berth re-allocation is being based on a survey of all ISC Area and Travel League Commissioners which was conducted in January.
