Wisconsin ISC World Tournament and ISC - II Championship Qualifiers Set

(Back To Press Releases)

Bob Tomlinson, Wisconsin/Upper Michigan ISC Area Commissioner has released information concerning the 2004 ISC Area Tournaments for teams interested in qualifying for the ISC World Tournament and the ISC II Championship.

Tomlinson informed the teams in the state of Wisconsin and in Upper Michigan that two separate venues will be used on the weekend of June 11-13 to stage the qualifying tournaments.

"The new deadlines enacted by the ISC Board of Directors really made things tough for us in this state," stated Tomlinson. "For more than three decades the third weekend of July was always the weekend that the Wisconsin ISC Area Tournament had been played. The new deadline of July 15th put an end to that."

Tomlinson has announced that teams interested in qualifying for a berth in the ISC World Tournament in 2004 will enter the Area Tournament to be hosted by Circle Tap just outside Denmark, Wisconsin.

The Site will be Circle Tap Ballyard. The entry fee is $250, payable to Circle Tap. Deadline for entry is May 28th. The Tournament Director will be Derrin Derricks. The format for the event will be determined at a future date.

Tomlinson further announced that the ISC II Area Tournament will be held in Stratford, Wisconsin. "The Stratford tournament has been in existence for longer than the ISC II level of play and taking teams away from that great event is just not in the best interest of the game here in Wisconsin," stated Tomlinson. "There are not any good weekends in June or July to stage that event so I contacted Greg Spindler of Rep & Baha's and we were able to work out an arrangement for the 2004 ISC II Area Tournament. Greg has been appointed as a Deputy Commissioner for 2004 and will be running the tournament in Stratford."

The entry fee for the ISC - II Qualifier will be $200, payable to Tournament Director Greg Spindler. The deadline for entry is also May 28th. The format for this event will be double elimination.

Tomlinson pointed out that the Wisconsin/Upper Michigan ISC Area is guaranteed one berth for Fargo. "We had 10 Wisconsin teams entered in last year's 40-team field in Kimberly," stated the commissioner. "At this time, we have one berth from the area tournament. That may increase but we will not have that information until much later in the season."
