ISC ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF CLYDE BENNETT AS CALIFORNIA AREA COMMISSIONER; DAVE BLACKBURN PUT IN CHARGE OF WEB CASTING AND ADMINISTRATION |
| Jan. 1, 2002 Effective January 1, Clyde Bennett will become the ISC California Area Commissioner, replacing Dave Blackburn. Dave will become an ISC Commissioner At Large in charge of all web casting (streaming) responsibilities and administration. Clyde Bennett has been associated with the men's fastpitch game in California for well over 25 years. He has been an umpire, tournament administrator, team sponsor and team manager. He is currently the manager for the Socal Bucks who have qualified for the past two ISC World Tournaments. In addition to his team responsibilities, Clyde has been instrumental over the past several years in working on a resurgence of the sport in California. The dates and location for the 2002 California ISC Area Tournament have already been arranged and announced. Dave Blackburn will now be able to devote all his ISC efforts and talents to the ongoing project of web casting games via the Internet. In 2001, Dave presented the web-casting concept to the ISC and was given approval to proceed. He took the project on and handled virtually every aspect of this new idea from sponsorship to equipment to Internet provider to on air play-by-play talent. He conducted streaming tests from the Pioneer Days tournament in Salt Lake City and the Best of the West tournament in Lancaster, CA before moving to "the Show" in Eau Claire. During the ISC World Tournament last summer, over 30 games were broadcast worldwide. Both Dave and the ISC feel we've only scratched the surface of the potential web casting provides the sport. Even if and when the ISC World Championship game is televised, it would be a one game exposure at best. Web casting allows for numerous games, live to every part of the globe. We are confident both Clyde and Dave will handle their new responsibilities in an effective and professional manner.
