NORWEST LEAGUE RETURNS TO I. S. C. ACTION

It is something like a "return of the native" - - - - and the news couldn't be better from the Pacific Northwest!

Under the expert guidance of Keith Erkenbrack and Craig Donaldson, a long-time powerful fixture in International Softball Congress circles, the NorWest League, will once again feature I.S.C. sanctioned play with a champion set to represent the NorWest League at the I.S.C. World Tournament in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, when that event is contested in August. http://www.isc2002kw.com/

Following a four-year period of inactivity, the NorWest League will again take its place as one of the premier fastpitch travel leagues which annually provide a strong contender in the ISC World Tournament.

The re-emergence of the NorWest League was formed from the BC Premier League, with Craig Donaldson stepping in as Commissioner of the Norwest League. Keith Erkenbrack will continue as the Area Commissioner in that part of the ISC world.

ISC Executive Director Ken Hackmeister was beaming with excitement as he welcomed the reborn league and its leaders Erkenbrack and Donaldson: "I have always known that there were some very strong teams in that area just itching to get into strong ISC competition."

Donaldson is excited about the rebirth of the NorWest League: "Teams competing in the league will be a combination of old and new faces. Returning teams are the Prince George River Kings, the Vancouver Grey Sox, and the Portland Merchants. The new faces will include Trail Tire and Victoria Fine Line." Donaldson expects competition to be keen as "all of these teams have a rich history".

The Vancouver area will be very much a player in the ISC scene. In addition to the spot in the World Tournament available to the champions of the the NorWest League, Vancouver will be hosting the 2002 I.S.C. Area Tournament which will also send a team to Kitchener-Waterloo. That Area Tournament will be held at South Hill on June 22 June 24.

Hats off - - - way off - - - to the good work of Craig Donaldson and Keith Erkenbrack - - - and a big ISC "Welcome Home" to the NorWest League!!!
