Wave the flags for the great state of Illinois - - - It is with great expectations and joy that International Softball Congress Illinois Area Commissioner, Vic Johns III is announcing the scheduling of the 2002 I.S.C. Area Tournament for the Illinois area.
All Illinois teams are urged to take advantage in what promises to be a most competitive tournament with two major prizes at stake.
"I'm delighted at the turnout", said Johns, who expects the total number of teams competing in the event to set a record for an Illinois Area Tournament.
The event is set for Decatur, Illinois, over the weekend of May 31 and June 1 and 2.
Teams competing in the tournament will be vying for spots in BOTH the International Softball Congress World Tournament (August 9 17) and the ISC II tournament when that first-ever competition is held August 13 17, with both events to be held in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario.
"This is great news," commented ISC Executive Director Ken Hackmeister. The ISC chief is also hoping that there may be a male pitch clinic conducted during the Illinois Area Tournament.
For more information, entry fees and deadlines, contact Vic Johns III at: p_sports@fcg.net Phone: 815 832-4304.
Teams which plan to compete for the automatic berth in the ISC II which will be at stake in Decatur should become familiar with the eligibility rules for the new tournament. These can be found at: http://www.iscfastpitch.com/webstart/press/pr263.htm
