48th Annual Iowa I.S.C. Area Tourney Set; World Tourney and I.S.C. II Spots at Stake in Walcott, Iowa, June 21 - June 29 International Softball Congress Area Commissioner Patrick Sullivan is announcing the 48th annual Iowa ISC Area Tournament. This large and always-successful tournament will be held in the city of Walcott, Iowa, at Victory and Wescott Parks over the nine-day period from June 21 through June 29. The annual prize - - a spot in the International Softball Congress World Tournament, to be held in Kitchener/Waterloo, Ontario, August 9 - 17, will be at stake in the tournament in Walcott. A second prize to be contested in Walcott will be an automatic berth in the ISC - II tournament which will be held in Kitchener August 13 - 17. The runner-up (or the highest finishing team eligible for ISC II competition) will get a spot in that first-ever international tournament. Entry fee for the Walcott event is just $85 and includes the cost of softballs. Walcott, Iowa, is located twelve miles west of Davenport on I 80. The Iowa tournament will use a double-elimination format. Prize money for the Iowa Area Tournament will be as follows: 1st Place - - $400 2nd Place - - $250 3rd Place - - $150 4th Place - - $100 Trophies will be presented for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place teams as well as for the Most Valuable Pitcher and the Player of the Tournament. All questions concerning the Area Tournament and the qualifier for ISC II, together with entry fees for the event should be directed to Commissioner Patrick R.
