Royce Heath, Bob Beyers, and Floyd Hammen to Become Commissioners Emeritus of ISC; Craig Donaldson and Dave Parker Appointed to Commissioner Positions September 6, 2002 The newly-created position of Commissioner Emeritus of the International Softball Congress will be occupied by three men who have served the organization long and well. Executive Director Ken Hackmeister announced today that Royce Heath, Bob Beyers, and Floyd Hammen have opted to retire from active duty and assume the mantel of Commissioner Emeritus. Royce Heath, honored this year for his 50 years as an ISC Commissioner, is relinquishing his position as Commissioner of the Texas-Oklahoma-Louisiana-Arkansas Area. Heath will continue in the key position of Chairman of the Hall of Fame Committee, a post he has held for more than two decades. Bob Beyers, another veteran who has served as Travel League Commissioner for 20 years, will also assume Emeritus status immediately. Floyd Hammen, who has been an ISC Commissioner since 1979 and has most recently served as Hall of Fame Curator from his post in Kimberly, Wisconsin, will combine Emeritus status with continuing service in the Hall of Fame post. "We welcome our first class of Emeritus Commissioners and both thank and congratulate them on the outstanding service they have provided the ISC for so many years" says Executive Director Ken Hackmeister. Hackmeister also announced that Craig Donaldson of New Westminster, BC and Dave Parker of Midland, Texas, have been unanimously approved as brand new commissioners. Craig Donaldson will replace Beyers as Commissioner of the Norwest Travel League. He was the driving force in starting the former BC Premier League seven years ago and has served as league president since its inception. When discussions took place last fall to have the BC Premier League become the Norwest Travel League, Craig was immediately supportive and worked very hard to obtain several new teams. The league functioned in 2002 and its champion, Vancouver Grey Sox were in the ISC World Tournament in Kitchener in August. Hackmeister was lavish in his praise of Donaldson's work: "Craig and our Area Commissioner, Keith Erkenbrack worked very closely together and they have an excellent personal and working relationship. They will give us a fine "team" in that key area of Canada and the U.S." Contact information for Craig Donaldson is as follows: Craig Donaldson 2036 8th Avenue New Westminster, BC, Canada V3M 2T6 604-525-3440 - Home 604-713-4991 - Work cdonalds5@shaw.ca Dave Parker will replace Heath as TX-OK-LA-AR Area Commissioner. When Dave Parker moved from Wyoming to Midland, TX last fall, he immediately started a brand new men's fastball team - - Thompson Valley Merchants. A former NAFA Commissioner in Wyoming, Dave has a close working knowledge of the non-major teams and their operations. He has conducted numerous pitching clinics and his first-year team was make up of primarily first-year players from slow pitch and from the baseball ranks. Hackmeister was quick to point out the strengths which Parker brings to the ISC: "He knows how to recruit - - both players and teams. Dave has been one of the key contributors on the Blue Ribbon Panel. I have always considered him a bright, ambitious, and dedicated individual with a very strong passion for the game."
