I.S.C. - II TOURNEY APPLAUDED BY PLAYERS AND MANAGERS

They liked it - - - and they liked it FINE!!!

They'd do it all over again!

They really liked having it at the same time and the same location as the I.S.C. World Tournament!

They don't want the tournament to be divided into more than a single classification!

And there are only a couple of things that they would change!

Those are the highlights of responses to a survey given to managers and players at the first-ever I.S.C. - II tournament held in Kitchener/Waterloo, Ontario last month.

Specifically:

88% said they were "very satisfied" with their experience as a participant in the tournament - - and the remaining 12% were "somewhat satisfied".

The format of having pool play followed by a single elimination playoff was called "excellent" by 51% and "good" by 37% with just 12% calling it either "not so good" or "poor".

An overwhelming 79% are opposed to dividing future ISC - II tournaments into more than a single classification.

They were generally positive but pretty well split on whether their team would jump at the chance to play in a Travel League with a berth in next year's ISC - II tournament at stake: 34% said they were "very likely" to play in such a TL; 34% said they were "somewhat likely"; and 32% said they were "not likely" to play in such a league.

A whopping 93% said they preferred the ISC - II tournament to be played at the same location as the ISC World Tournament if the hosting city could accommodate both tournaments at the same time.

With the same assumption about the hosting city, an overwhelming 91% indicated a preference for playing the ISC - II DURING the ISC World Tournament rather than before or after it.

A commanding 91% described the competition they experienced in Kitchener to be "about what I expected".

A unanimous 100% found the competitive balance in the tournament to be "about right" as opposed to either "too strong" or "too weak"

Suggestions for making the ISC - II tournament better focused almost totally on two items: having pool play end the day before the playoffs begin; and giving the winner of each pool a "double life" in the playoffs.

Players comprised 79% of respondents to the survey with the remaining 21% being either managers/coaches or player-managers.

As plans are made for future ISC - II tournaments, the input from these respondents will be given careful consideration.
