ISC Umpire-in-Chief Ron Brinkman has provided some clarifications and some additions to the recently announced ISC Umpire Pool application process.
These clarifications also address the implementation of the process.
This pool will provide umpires for the annual ISC World Tournament and for a wide range of other top umpiring assignments.
According to Brinkman and ISC Umpire Committee Chair Les Novak, “This pool will provide umpires not only for the annual ISC World Tournament but also for such events as the recently added ISC II Championship Tourney, ISC Developmental (age group) Championships, ISC Area Tournaments, ISC Travel Leagues and for other major invitational tournaments conducted in North America.”
Brinkman reflected on the impact of this pool on both umpires and the ISC: “The formation of the ISC Umpire Pool will give the individual umpire some places to go to apply their skills and an opportunity to someday work in the best fastball tournament in the world. The ISC Umpire Pool will allow the organization to use many umpires throughout the season and end the summer with a very good group of umpires at the ISC World Tournament and the ISC II tournament.”
Applications may be obtained by e-mailing EITHER Umpire-in-Chief Ron Brinkman (iscump23@aol.com) or ISC Umpire Committee Chair Les Novak (bestumpln@aol.com). When requesting an application, persons should specify whether they would like to receive the application in Word or Excel format or in hard copy.
Please note that all umpire pool applicants must have access to e-mail.
Completed applications MUST BE SENT TO BOTH Brinkman and Novak. Any applications which were sent to Les Novak in response to an earlier release are acceptable, and a new application will not be necessary
FOLLOWING IS THE TIMELINE FOR DEVELOPMENT OF THE UMPIRE POOL:

Brinkman and Novak are encouraging all umpires interested in male fastball to submit an application, regardless of current ability level. The concept of the pool is to identify umpire prospects for future development including mentoring and evaluation through the use of the umpire pool.
