ISC Round Robin Tie Breaker Rule

The following round robin (pool) play, each pool of teams will be ranked 1-5 with their pool using the following process. The top two teams from each pool advance to the championship bracket of 16 teams.

  1. Overall round robin record.

  1. Two team tie:

    1. Common (head to head) round bobbin game between the two tied teams.

  1. Three team time for both pool seeds:
    1. If one of the tied teams defeated each of the other tied teams in round robin play, that team advances. The remaining two tied teams will be resolved by their common round robin game.
    2. If 3a above doesn’t break the tie, the tied teams will be ranked 1, 2, and 3 using rules 3c through 3h below. The #1 pool seed and #2 and #3 will have one game playoff for the second pool seed.
    3. Fewest runs allowed in round robin games between the tied teams.
    4. Fewest runs allowed in all round robin games.
    5. Run differential in round robin games between the tied teams.
    6. Run differential in all round robin games.
    7. Most runs scored in round robin between the tied teams.
    8. Most runs scored in all round robin games.
    9. Coin flip.

  1. Three team tie for the #2 pool seed only:
    1. If one of the tied teams defeated each of the other tied teams in round robin play, that team advances.
    2. If 3a above doesn’t break the tie, the tied teams will be ranked 1 2, and 3 using rules 3c through 3h above. Teams 2 and 3 will play a playoff game with the winner playing #1 for the remaining berth.

  1. Five team tie:
    1. Teams will be ranked 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 based on rules 3a through 3h above. The #1 seed will be given to the #1 pool seed. A 3-game playoff will be conducted. #5 vs #2 and #4 vs #3. The two winners playoff for the #2 pool seed.

Depending on the number of ties requiring playoff games, these games will likely be played following scheduled round robin games on Wednesday and could continue into the early morning hours of Thursday, August 15. Championship bracket play begins Thursday morning.

NOTE: Any forfeit games will be recorded with a 2-0 score.
