Lacey A’s 3 – Georgian Bay Giants 0
The 2025 ISC World Tournament kicked off with a strong statement from the Lacey A’s, who shut out the Georgian Bay Giants with a 3-0 win in the opening game.
B. Tyson was dominant on the mound, going the full 7 innings while racking up 11 strikeouts, allowing just 3 hits and 2 walks. It was a clinical performance that set the tone for the tournament.
At the plate, first baseman Edgington (#15) made an early impact by launching the first home run of the tournament, driving in two runs in the game and helping secure the win for Lacey.
For the Giants, second baseman Kewgeshig managed to break through with a 1-for-2 showing at the plate, but the team was ultimately stifled by Tyson’s command and control.
STK Fastball 7 – Seattle Dirt Dogs 0 (5 Innings)
STK Fastball delivered a powerful statement in their tournament opener, shutting out the Seattle Dirt Dogs 7-0 in just five innings behind a combined no-hitter from pitchers Scott Lieph and Jorge Segura.
The duo was in complete control, racking up 7 strikeouts and allowing only 2 walks across the abbreviated game. Their dominance on the mound was matched by the STK offense, which brought the fire early and often.
Chuco Muñoz and Manuel Godoy each launched home runs to lead the scoring surge, helping STK seal the game in five innings via the run rule.
Kegel Black Knights 10 – Southside Stingers 2 (5 Innings)
The Kegel Black Knights came out swinging in their tournament debut, rolling past the Southside Stingers with a dominant 10-2 win in five innings.
Ethan Johnston led the way on the mound, tossing 4 strong innings with 6 strikeouts, while allowing just 2 unearned runs. His efficient outing kept the Stingers at bay and allowed the Knights’ offense to go to work.
Right fielder Frank Kimlinger had a standout performance at the plate, going 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs and multiple runs scored, sparking the offense early and often.
For the Stingers, pitcher Corie List struggled to contain the Knights’ bats, giving up 10 hits and 10 runs over 2.2 innings, despite picking up a strikeout.
Grande Prairie Pirates 8 – Townsend Tide 1
The Grande Prairie Pirates powered their way to a strong 8-1 win over the Townsend Tide, backed by a solid start from Steven Normand and some early offensive fireworks.
Normand threw 4 innings, striking out 7, walking 4, and allowing just 2 hits to secure the win on the mound.
At the plate, leadoff hitter Patrick Burns came up big, launching a 3-run home run to get the Pirates on the board early and set the tone for the game.
The Tide were held in check for most of the game, managing just 2 hits. Nolan Bultena was a bright spot, collecting 1 hit and a walk, and scoring the team’s only run.
Dale Schweyer started for Townsend, throwing 3 innings while giving up 7 hits, 8 runs, and striking out 3 before exiting the game.
Sandlot Merchants 7 – Houston Aces 0
The Sandlot Merchants put together a dominant performance in their opening game, shutting out the Houston Aces 7-0 behind a nearly flawless effort from their pitching staff.
Erick Chaparro was lights out on the mound, tossing 4 perfect innings with 6 strikeouts and no baserunners allowed. He handed the ball off to Gian Paolo Ferrari, who closed out the final two frames, allowing just 1 hit and 3 walks to preserve the shutout.
The lone hit for the Aces came from shortstop Nery Del Cid Natareno, who broke up the no-hitter late in the game.
On the other side, Javier Cabellero took the loss for Houston, pitching 3 innings while surrendering 6 hits and 3 earned runs.
Team Marquez 3 – Midland Explorers 1
Team Marquez secured a hard-fought 3-1 win over the Midland Explorers, powered by a stellar complete-game performance from pitcher Zackary Pierce.
Pierce was in command all night, going the full 7 innings, allowing just 5 hits and 1 run, while striking out an impressive 13 batters and walking 2. His dominance on the mound kept the Explorers off balance throughout the game.
Offensively, shortstop Guadalupe Ayon stepped up with a clutch performance — collecting 2 hits, driving in a run, and scoring twice to lead the way for Team Marquez.
For Midland, Jerlin Rutt pitched 4 innings, allowing 4 hits, 3 runs, and 2 strikeouts in the loss. Jordan Sherman was a bright spot at the plate, going 2-for-3 and driving in the Explorers’ only run.
Waterdown Hammer 7 – AHI Reapers 0
The Waterdown Hammer came out strong in their tournament debut, delivering a commanding 7-0 shutout over the AHI Reapers behind a sharp outing from Clayton Robinson and a disciplined approach at the plate.
Robinson was in full control on the mound, pitching 5 scoreless innings, allowing just 4 hits, and striking out 8 to secure the win.
At the plate, the Hammers were patient and productive, drawing 5 walks and collecting 9 hits. Curtis Ruetz and Connor Brooks both went 2-for-3, with Ruetz adding 2 RBIs to lead the offense.
For AHI, Oscar Sanchez started the game and lasted 2 innings, giving up 5 hits and 4 runs before handing the ball to Agustin Fernandez, who pitched 4 innings, allowed 4 hits, and struck out 3.
The Hammers look sharp early as they notch their first win of the tournament in dominant fashion.
LC Ostrander Norsemen 7 – 0 Sebringville Sting
The LC Ostrander Norsemen capped off the opening day of the 2025 ISC World Tournament with a dominant performance, powered by a lights-out start from Roman Godoy and an explosive night at the plate by Te Wera Bishop.
Godoy was electric, throwing 4 shutout innings with 11 strikeouts, allowing just 2 hits and no walks. His command and pace set the tone early and never let up.
Backing him up was Te Wera Bishop, who put together a perfect night at the plate, going 4-for-4 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored, helping the Norsemen build a lead that never looked in danger.
For Sebringville, Will Schlotzhauer started on the mound and went 3 innings, giving up 9 hits, 6 runs, and striking out 4. The Sting managed 4 hits as a team but couldn’t generate the offense needed to support their starter.
The Norsemen close out Day 1 with a convincing win and plenty of momentum heading into the rest of the tournament.
