Nicholai Rindom – Denmark’s Rising Star Behind the Plate

Brian Eradus • June 10, 2025

At just 21 (soon to be 22) years old, Nicholai Rindom is stepping onto the ISC stage with confidence, passion, and a powerful story of perseverance. Wearing #69 and representing both Sandlot Merchants and his home club, Egedal Stars in Denmark, Nicholai is set to make his mark as a catcher in his first ISC season.

From Tennis Courts to Softball Diamonds

Nicholai’s fastpitch journey started unexpectedly at age 12 when a friend invited him to practice. “I found out I could throw the ball pretty hard, so I kept going,” he recalls. That raw talent developed quickly, leading him to catch for Danish legend Kim Hansen at just 14 years old.

But it hasn’t always been easy. “I was severely overweight as a kid,” Nicholai shares. Overcoming that challenge has shaped his work ethic and drive, pushing him to train harder and smarter every year.

Goals for 2025

Nicholai’s ambitions for the season are clear:
✅ Perform well in his first ISC experience
✅ Continue growing as a hitter, especially in pitch selection and mental approach
✅ Push toward new opportunities, including playing in South America

Preparing for the Big Stage

Nicholai’s training includes:
🏋️‍♂️ Gym 3–5 times a week, focusing on shoulder and knee strength
🥎 Softball practice twice a week
🧘‍♂️ Nightly stretching and mental preparation
And, of course, his quirky pre-game ritual: long tosses from his knees and a very specific bat wiggle at the plate!

What Drives Him

Nicholai thrives on the challenge of the mental game. “Softball is a game of failure,” he says. “Resilience and mental toughness are key. I’ve worked hard with coaches to manage at-bats, ignore hecklers, and stay calm under pressure.” His advice to young players?
👉 “Close your eyes and swing your tits off!”

Looking Ahead

Nicholai dreams of seeing fastpitch continue to grow, with a bigger focus on youth development and even a professional league one day. He’s a big fan of how social media is helping spread the sport and encourages everyone—players and fans alike—to keep building the game’s online presence.

The ISC is setting the entry fee for the World Tournament and Legends Championship at $750 US starting in 2026, with the differential from the previous charge of $600 dedicated to streaming to ensure coverage of every game. “This was not a decision that we made lightly to raise the entry fee,” said ISC President Chris Santos. “We want to ensure that every game played at the ISC World Tournament is streamed and we are putting every dollar of the fee increase into our streaming operation.” “Our plan is to work with our streaming partner Softball Premier TV to have full multi-camera coverage, including commentary, on two diamonds and cover the third and fourth diamonds with a single camera that is connected to GameChanger so fans will have the informative score ribbon,” said ISC VP Communications Blair Setford. “Streaming is one of the best tools that we have to get our great game in front of a broader audience and we need to take every available step to continue to grow our ISC brand of fastpitch,” said Santos. Businesses and other potential sponsors who would consider an ad on the ISC Network streaming program should contact Blair Setford through the ISC Website Contact Us page. In 2025, there were over 225,000 views on the Softball Premier and ISC Fastpitch YouTube pages just from the ISC World Tournament games.
